Hadestown: Teen Edition presents a full-length adaptation of the Tony-Award winning Broadway musical developed by songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and director Rachel Chavkin. Modified for teen actors to perform for family audiences, this edition is only available for school and youth groups with performers 19 and younger. This intriguing, beautiful folk opera offers a modern take on Greek mythology with sweeping emotions and resonant themes. Narrated by Hermes, the plot follows the intertwining love stories of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and King Hades and lady Persephone. Inspired by the traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, this sung-through story examines industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Hadestown: Teen Edition takes your audience on an unforgettable journey to the underworld and back, and leaves them imagining how the world could be.
