It’s showtime! Beetlejuice is the ghost-with-the-most and is serving up hysterical and irreverent mayhem in the hit musical comedy based on Tim Burton’s dearly beloved film. Beetlejuice tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” Lucky for Lydia, her new house is haunted by a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice, the titular character with a real zest for life…and mischief. When Lydia calls on him to scare away anyone with a pulse, Beetlejuice shows his true stripes. What ensues is a feast of surprises, chaos, and fun. And under its uproarious surface (six feet under, to be exact), is a remarkably touching show about family, love, and making the most of every Day-O! Throughout the show, Scenic Projections bring extraordinary environments to life: a graveyard with swirling mist and glowing tombstones, a surreal and colorful Netherworld, and a stormy, electrifying sky that mirrors the frenetic action on stage. Key moments include the “Day-O” dinner party scene, where the dining room is overtaken by a psychedelic, calypso-infused nightmare. During “Beautiful Sound,” the house erupts into a topsy-turvy dance of lights and patterns, reflecting Beetlejuice’s mischievous spirit. The projections are an integral part of the storytelling, adding depth and dimension, and transporting the audience through this delightfully dark and comedic tale.
