### Our Story

- 2013 - Opened our doors September 3, 2013 as Broadway Motion Design (BMD), introducing commercially produced digital scenery for plays and musicals. Our first show was Spamalot.
- 2014 - Surpassed 500 annual productions, produced our first international productions, expanded offices and hired our first employees, grew the catalog to 21 projection packages, and debuted the tag “Let’s Make a Scene!”
- 2015 - Earned our first professional license providing projections for the Hollywood Bowl, surpassed 1,000 annual productions, and debuted the tag “Simple. Affordable. Beautiful. Possible.”
- 2016 - Partnered with ImageCue to distribute hardware with projections, were featured in Lighting&Sound America, rebranded as Broadway Media Distribution, surpassed 2,500 annual productions, and debuted the tag “Bridging the Gap between Cinema and Theatre.”
- 2017 - Established the StageGear division offering projectors and projections, and partnered with Theatrical Rights Worldwide for Scenic Projections.
- 2018 - Partnered with Music Theatre International for Scenic Projections, launched a new website with ecommerce and a new accounts interface, released the first version of StagePlayer on iPad, introduced the digital backdrops themes library, and debuted the tag “Your Production Partner.”
- 2019 - Established the DesignWorks division representing Broadway designers, launched a new website, launched Mac and PC versions of StagePlayer, rebranded as Broadway Media, surpassed 4,000 annual productions, and debuted the tag “Inspiring Broadway Quality Productions.”
- 2020 - Sustained operations through the pandemic at a 98% revenue loss, debuted ShowStream remote performance software, transitioned to temporary remote work, launched the PRO version of Scenic Projections, and debuted the tag “Breaking down barriers to the performing arts.”
- 2021 - Launched a new website, founded Broadway Media Australasia and Broadway Media Europe for regional licensing, and provided free projection resources for MTI’s All Together Now benefit concert.
- 2021 continued - Transitioned to a permanently distributed workforce, released the original Broadway Anastasia video design for licensing, and debuted the tag “Make Your Stage Come Alive!”
- 2022 - Acquired The Original Production and released Choreography Guides, launched a partnership with Broadway Licensing, expanded to an international workforce, and released the original Broadway Mean Girls video design for licensing.
- 2023 - Launched a new website, debuted the tag “Let’s Put On A Show!”, and celebrated 10 years of theatre-making.
- 2024 - Expanded the Stage Gear product line by introducing Wireless Microphone Systems.
- 2025 - Released the Direct-from-Broadway scenic design for Dear Evan Hansen featuring artwork by Peter Nigrini, and introduced the ability to customize projections with embedded custom videos.
- 2026 - Debuted StageStudio and StagePlayer 3.0, challenging the Mac-only status quo of existing industry tools to make professional projection accessible to every school and community theatre, regardless of operating system.
